Tickle, the Elf on the Shelf, came to me recently begging for my help. You see, Tickle knows all too well that Santa will be dispatching him to Little Johnny's house again this year. Quite frankly, he's not looking forward to the trip. Apparently Little Johnny is a bit of a handful. (There is much heated discussion amongst Little Johnny's relatives as to which side of the family he inherited his menacing ways.)

I won't lie, the look in Tickle's glazed eyes sent a shiver of dread to my very core. I knew I had to do whatever I could to help this little helper. So, with Santa's approval, I created these Naughty Warnings. If Little Johnny racks up too many before Christmas, he gets a big nada come wrapping-paper-tearing-time.

If you think your Elf on the Shelf could use one or two (or 20) of these forms, look no further than the link here. There are four blank forms on a page for easy printing and cutting. Enjoy! And good luck!

Graphic Design Inspiration | High School Football Program

You have a football program deadline and the ad has to be submitted TODAY. You have an uncooperative child (also known as my three year old daughter) that does not want her photo taken, not to mention your very little knowledge of football. Oh, and you haven't even started building the ad yet.

What do you do? Improvise.

You Haven't Lived Until...

We've all said it at one time or another. It's usually followed with a grossly embellished tale of a debacle from the good 'ol days, heavy on the stupidity and dumb luck, and then finished off with the obligatory "now that's living", along with the proud, accomplished look one boasts after a well-told story.

I've told my share of That's Living stories. Even better, I've got the pictures to prove it. I'm a Graphic Designer, of course my tales are accompanied by visuals. I love a good show and tell.

So after (not much) thought, I decided to start writing a series of stories on my blog, and throw in a few photos for good measure. For me that's the best part; I never have to say "I guess you just had to be there."

The first That's Living story to kick off the series will be my next post. Here's your sneak peak.

That's a lot of Bull

I love all cows, but especially Black Angus. This is the sweetest bull in the world. He likes to be scratched.

No telephoto lens, no cropping, he is that close. If I had scooted over in the seat I think he would've climbed in beside me. Nevermind that he is 1600 lbs.
Shot with my Nikon D7000 with 50/1.4
F4.5, 1/160 shutter speed, ISO 100.

Where Do You Find Inspiration?

Thanks to the likes of Pinterest, inspiration is a quick mouse-click away. Crafty Bloggers, exponentially more creative than me, graciously share their projects and ideas, easily tricking me and other naïve pinners into thinking that we can also be crafty. Last Christmas, one sneaky blogger inspired me to believe that I, too, could make reindeer using only cookie dough, pretzels and M&Ms. She obviously was unaware that I do not bake. However, I stumbled upon another creative soul who bestowed upon me the knowledge to cut and fold Valentine candy bar wrappers. I remember proudly gazing at the perfectly packaged Hershey Bars I sent to my daughter’s daycare, wondering how I ever found inspiration before Pinterest.

Before saying good-bye to my Marketing job in the corporate world, some of my best ideas came during my early morning one-hour commute. For the extroverts reading who may not easily relate, let me explain; quiet, alone time with a clear, fresh brain and hot cup of coffee is fertile land to this introvert. By the time I pulled into the office parking lot on any given morning, I was convinced my latest and greatest idea would turn Martha Stewart green with envy.
Way back in my prior life – and by prior, I mean prior to kid/career/adult responsibility, I often fell victim to current exercise craze. Walking, step aerobics, circuit training, I’ve tried it all. I didn’t stick with any of it, but exercising did provide me with the time and endorphins for magnificent brainstorming. Now that I think about it, I should start exercising again. Who knows what inspirations await.
Now that you know a little about me, tell me, where do you find inspiration?
By the way, is anyone interested in seeing a photo of those perfectly packaged Hershey Bars in a future blog post? And since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, I may throw in some directions and a printable pdf of the finished product for good measure.
Thanks for reading,
Angie
